ATSL wins Homerton University Hospital contract

Arriva Transport Solutions will deliver non-emergency patient transport and medical courier services in Hackney on behalf of Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust from 1st July.

The £1.3m three year contract will service the Borough of Hackney and surrounding areas

Delivering non-emergency patient transport, including taking patients to and from their appointments at the hospital or any of the NHS treatment centres within the trust’s community services. Arriva Transport Solutions will also be responsible for providing a courier service for medical specimens such as bloods and other vitals between hospitals and primary care services including GP surgeries.

Mark Johnston-Wood, Director of Estates and Facilities, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said:

“Arriva Transport Solutions brings together its transport and logistical experience with more than 30 years’ clinical expertise, through its established Ambuline operations. I am confident that it will provide an excellent quality of service for patients who rely on patient transport to travel to and from their appointments.

“As a trust, we will work in partnership with ATSL to ensure it delivers a service that meets both the needs of our trust and most importantly our patients.”

An Arriva Transport Solutions spokesperson, said: “We are very pleased to begin this new partnership with the trust and look forward to delivering an excellent standard of care to the patients who use our service.”

Currently the contract serves approximately 50,000 patient journeys and 3,500 courier movements a year.
